Ese Oruru, the 14-year-old teenager who was allegedly abducted and married by a Kano man
Premium Times reports that the 14-year-old girl denies being kidnapped from Bayelsa state to Kano, forcibly converted to Islam and married. On the contrary, the teenager said she did not want to reunite with her relatives, voluntarily left home with her lover and changed religion without her parents consent.
In an audio recording, which is a conversation between Miss Oruru and a police interrogator in Kano, the girl also said: “My name is Aisha Chuwas. I am 17-year-old. I came here to be a Muslim and I will stay here.”
